Cooling Sensors

Summary

Cooling Sensors

Coolant Temperature Sensors can be located throughout a vehicle’s cooling system to monitor the temperature of the engine block and cylinder heads. Engine coolant runs through a series of passages in the engine to extract the excess heat and cool down the engine.

Cooling system-related sensors are typically located near the cooling system thermostat.

If your vehicle is experiencing the one or more of the following, it may be time for a new coolant temperature sensor:

  • Rough engine idle
  • Hard starting engine or misfiring engine
  • Decreased fuel economy
  • Check engine light remains on
