Engine Oil Pressure Switch

Summary

Engine Oil Pressure Switch

When an Engine Oil Pressure Switch detects low oil pressure, it may trigger the low oil pressure light to illuminate or signal the engine control module in an attempt to prevent engine damage. In some vehicles, the switch will communicate with the engine control module and use this information to control the oil pressure gauge and/or cut power to the fuel pump.

Wells Engine Oil Pressure Switches are engineered and tested to match OE parts in fit, form and function.

The Engine Oil Pressure Switch location is threaded into an engine oil passage on the external engine assembly.

If your vehicle is experiencing one or more of the following, consider installing a new Engine Oil Pressure Switch:

  • Oil leaking from switch
  • Low oil light illuminated when oil level is correct
  • Vehicle does not start
