Vehicle Speed Sensor

A Vehicle Speed Sensor measures vehicle speed and transmits this information to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM interprets this data to control multiple features, including the speedometer, cruise control, power-assisted steering, anti-lock brake system and more.

Wells Vehicle Speed Sensors are designed and tested to meet or exceed OE specifications for fit, form and function.

A Vehicle Speed Sensor is typically located on the transmission but can be located on the transfer case or the rear differential on some models.

If a vehicle is experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, the Vehicle Speed Sensor may need to be replaced:

  • Inaccurate or no speedometer reading
  • Inability to engage cruise control
  • Check engine light is illuminated
