Evaporative Systems

Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid

The Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid allows outside air to be drawn into the charcoal-filled Vapor Canister. This allows for purging of fuel vapors from the canister during normal vapor purge operation. The vent solenoid is also used for EVAP system integrity testing.

Wells Vapor Canister Vent Solenoids are engineered and tested to match the OE parts in fit, form and function and are compatible with both domestic and imported vehicles. Products come with OE-style brackets, hardware and electrical connectors when applicable.

The Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid is usually located on or near the Vapor Canister by the fuel tank.

If a vehicle is experiencing one or more of the following, it may need a new Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid:

  • Stalling or drivability issues
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Unable to fill the fuel tank—gas nozzle continually turns off
  • Check engine light illumination
